Vistair has launched SafetyNet, a new system that allows operational personnel to submit air safety reports accurately and efficiently.

“…The Vistair SafetyNet product will, we believe, be adopted as a benchmark for safety reporting,” Operations director, Ryanair.

SafetyNet was developed initially for Ryanair, Europe’s largest international scheduled airline, who were not satisfied with current safety reporting systems and decided to commission their own.

The resulting SafetyNet product has been well received by air operators and recently adopted by Flybe.

The web-based system allows the full range of safety reports to be submitted on-line including wake turbulence, airprox, bird strike, disruptive passengers as well as captain’s special reports and cabin crew reports.

Reports are efficiently compiled on-line by operational personnel from a crew room or using a PDA, then submitted automatically to the flight safety office for review and dissemination. External recipients, such as the CAA, can be automatically sent the report in the appropriate format.

Ryanair, Operations Director, David O’Brien said: “It is essential that we capture and process all safety reports quickly and accurately. To achieve this we require a secure, fully web-based system, with effective automated workflow and report life cycle management features.

“We were not satisfied with the functionality of systems currently available, and took the decision to commission our own.

“Following a year of development and testing, we are delighted with the Vistair SafetyNet product, which we believe will be adopted as a benchmark for safety reporting.”

John Alsford, Flight Operations Director, Flybe said: “Following a full review of air safety reporting systems, we are convinced that the new SafetyNet product is an important step forward. This product is reliable, quick and easy to use, and produces excellent reports that allow us to identify risks efficiently.”

“Flybe is one of Europe’s leading low fares airlines and passenger safety is our number one priority. We regularly review our safety procedures to ensure we have the best possible technology and safety reporting systems in place and our passengers value our impeccable safety record.”
