Many inventors and innovators experience frustration when trying to develop marketable new products. For this reason Domain offers a different solution.
Our associates have proven core skills in manufacturing, design, branding, marketing, retail environments and are also supported by external mentors. They follow a unique 8 step 'out of the box' modular approach to New Product Development that focuses on the retailers needs at the earliest stages (the reverse of the current methodology). They are also linked to sales & distribution partners who can fast track the resulting products to market.
In depth assessment of the product concept's viability in terms of the marketing mix and retailing factors.
Utilising the latest 3D visualisation and RPD prototyping processes to arrive at a tangible product without major investments in castings, moulds etc. This physical evidence and data is used to refine the manufacturing specification and evaluation. We can partner with a wide range of external providers including universities to provide this alongside in-house facilities for visualisation and packaging development.
Our associates believe that by involving retailers at an early stage basic errors of retail non-compliance are avoided. They will use their retail knowledge and that of savvy sales partners to gain an early assessment from the retail buyer of the product. To do this we will create pseudo branding and highly finished but one-off packaging. Changes proposed by a buyer that are acted on create a perceived attachment to the product greatly increasing the chances of it being listed. This is unique as most innovators find access to buyers extremely difficult.
Using all data gathered particularly the retail review formulate:
The main principle behind Domain's integrated NPD service is to create 'Virtual Products' through highly finished prototypes and packaging at an early stage. This requires low investment per project and enables a virtual product line to be presented and initial commitments made by buyers before manufacturing expenditure is incurred. This has been key to success in a number of products for cosmetics and personal pampering so far, and continues to give us significant flexibility both financially and creatively.
